The Route

This year’s jaunt down to the sun is spread over 11 days but is over 100 miles shorter than last year’s crossing. Due mainly to the fact that I started in Central London and had to cross Kent before even seeing a croissant!

The route follows the famous ‘La Velodyssee‘ route for a good few days. This mainly traffic-free cycleway actually begins up in North-Devon. The english bit, I’ve already done as it’s on my doorstep and passes within 100yds of my house. So, I’m going to kick this one off by getting the overnight ferry to Roscoff, then following that with 11 consecutive days of cycling.

I’ll be leaving La Velodysse at Rochefort and then cutting inland across the Charente region as I’ll be dropping in on my folks for a night. Then, I’ll continue southish before picking up the Garonne River/Canal that will take me (I hope) down to Toulouse. After that, I’ll be roughly following the Canal du midi that will take me until I can go no further where I’ll be dipping my toes in the Mediterranean Sea.

The route is split up into each day with a link to Google Maps.
